my go to morning routine (that actually works)
You know those morning routines you see on social media that look so appealing? The girls are fit, they run every morning, eat a big breakfast, leisurely walk at 9am… Well, I wish I could say I have that routine, but at this point in my life I do not. I work from 7:30am-4pm(ish) everyday.
Morning routines have always been challenging for me because I feel like I never get sleep. But, I am excited to say I have nailed down one that seems to be working for me and actually doesn’t leave me feeling drained by 10am. I will take you through my steps, hopefully this gives you some hope that not everyone has a fancy at home job that allows them to slowly start their day.
I wake up anywhere between 5:00-5:15am. I know, it is early. But I have to start getting ready for work around 6am so this gives me enough time to not rush and enjoy the morning. Just about every morning I will apply the Mel Robbins 5 second rule..
I brush my teeth, go to the bathroom and instantly put on a cozy workout set and off to the living room I go. After I brush my teeth I chug a glass of water. Your body NEEDS water first thing. Lukewarm water to be exact. I will link my favorite water bottle that I use every single day. It is a glass bottle so it really makes the water in the morning taste fresh.
Morning workout is next. I loveeeee the Melissa Wood Health platform. Her and her team really have has been the reason I love to workout now and recently got into meditation. I have really loved to get grounded in the morning and do some breathwork. This has helped my anxiety in the mornings so much.
After I workout and meditate, I try my best to journal. I am currently on day 2 of studying Proverbs. I have been liking a journal page consisting of my morning reading and any key scriptures that has stuck out to me. Then I like to go into how I am feeling and end off with a couple positive affirmations.
Lastly, it is the start of the grind. I make hot lemon water EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. It has helped my digestion tract SO much. I have consistently done this for about a month and have seen nothing but good things come from it. Once I make that it is off to skincare, makeup and hair. I recently took a month off coffee but have gotten back on the train after finding a really good organic, low acid coffee that seriously is the best. 100% not bitter and doesn’t upset my stomach or make me go pee 100x in the morning.
This is what has helped me be a little productive but also help me start my day off feeling good. There is nothing worse than rushing all morning and going into work in a bad mood. Definitely is something I am trying to fix!
I hope you enjoy these 5 easy morning routine steps.
